By ferry and train from Ireland to Wales
We are back in the UK, having caught the 8.15 am ferry from Rosslare Harnour to Fishguard and the train from Fishguard to Swansea. The photo below is the front of the ferry opening up as we came into dock.
June ordered Cockle Popcorn for lunch, not realising it was battered cockles. She had one taste and no more.
As in Ireland, all the official signs are bilingual. We wandered through the National Waterfront Museum, where we could choose to hear audio descriptions in Welsh or English. I think the most interesting displays were about famous Welsh people. The poet Dylan Thomas was born here and worked in a newspaper office just down the street. Swansea looks multicultural but not particularly prosperous.
There are castle ruins here too but they are blocked off and not well cared for so we didn't linger.
We had hoped to catch a Welsh choir performing but it is Wednesday night and not much is happening.
