Wild Atlantic Coast
We skipped breakfast to catch the 7.15 am bus from Derry to Letterkenny where we picked up our next hire car. Enterprise Car Hire were very helpful and their security deposit was only €250 (compared with the £1200 Avis charged us).

By the time we found a cafe in Donegal Craft Village we were starving. After a hearty breakfast we explored the craft shops and I found a beautiful fused glass brooch.
Our next stop was Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery where we learned how hunter gatherers in 2000 BC buried the bones of their dead in tombs under cairns of rocks.
By this time we were running late and just kept going down the Wild Atlantic Way to Galway. We saw mountains completely bare of trees, and glimpses of lochs, but didnt reach the coast to see the Atlantic Ocean.
They must have lots of rocks in this part of Ireland because there are rock walls everywhere, around the fields and even up the sides of mountains.
It was a long day of driving and we were disappointed we didn't have more time to explore this area of Ireland. Tomorrow we will try to prioritise better.
Dinner at the pub was noisy but our B&B is very peaceful with a great view of Galway Bay. June is very taken with the robotic lawnmower here.
